Knicks Rumors: Pros and Cons of potentially signing Alan Anderson
Con: Sharp Decline
It’s been quite some time since Alan Anderson has been a viable contributor to an NBA rotation. His efficiency has fallen off a cliff, his production has suffered with it, and his defensive value is minimal in terms of personal execution.
The New York Knicks would be wise to fill the locker room with respected veterans, but it’s fair to question if Anderson can still have a positive impact on the court.
Anderson has a solid history of success in the NBA, but it’s been quite some time since that transpired. He’s appeared in just 43 games over the course of the past two seasons, averaging just 11.6 minutes per game during that time.
Anderson will still has value to whichever team he signs with, but his contributions on the court would be limited in nature.
Anderson is still a quality 3-point shooter—a skill that’s unlikely to disappear any time soon. Having missed 121 of the past 164 games, however, Anderson has something to prove as far as producing in any type of consistent manner is concerned.
The Knicks don’t necessarily need a veteran to provide big numbers, but this signing may be limited exclusively to leadership.
