Brian Scalabrine recently stated that the New York Knicks should accept the trade of Carmelo Anthony for Ryan Anderson. What would that actually entail?

The New York Knicks have pressed pause on the open attempts to trade Carmelo Anthony. The primary reason for the delay of what many view as the inevitable is the unfortunate reality that New York can’t seem to find an ideal return for the 10-time All-Star.

That’s proven no more true than with the Houston Rockets, which share mutual interest with Anthony, but lack the ideal trade pieces to acquire him.

In a recent appearance on The Big3 Show with Josh Eberley and Oliver Maroney, Brian Scalabrine provided a unique opinion on the matter. The 11-year NBA veteran expressed his belief that the player New York should be looking for is already on Houston’s roster.

In Scalabrine’s eyes, the Knicks’ young roster would benefit from swapping the ball-dominant Anthony out for sharpshooting power forward Ryan Anderson.

"“I would personally do the Ryan Anderson deal for Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo is such a dominating personality. With the Knicks going in the direction they are, they’re trying to make this about Porzingis. Ryan Anderson I think would fit in fine with New York.”"

It may be a polarizing take on the matter at hand, but it’s worth looking into what a swap of Anthony for Anderson would entail.

It goes without saying that the Knicks would need to receive stronger compensation than just Anderson. A third team could provide a quality asset that New York may covet, whether that be a promising young player or a future draft pick.

The question is: What would the pros and cons be of the New York Knicks potentially adding Ryan Anderson to the current roster?
