Carmelo Anthony has been at the heart of incessant trade rumors. The New York Knicks star finally broke his silence on the matter of being traded.

The future of the New York Knicks will be determined by Carmelo Anthony, Steve Mills, and Scott Perry. No individual will play a lesser role in the decision, as Anthony has a no-trade clause, and the front office has the right to opt against trading him.

With his future up in the air, Anthony broke his silence with a brief comment on his Knicks tenure during a trip to his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

New York has made it no secret that it intends to explore the trade market for Anthony. Former team president Phil Jackson publicly acknowledged the desire to trade Anthony, and both Steve Mills and Scott Perry have acknowledged that discussions are ongoing.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Anthony claims to be, “At peace,” with any decision that’s made by the front office.

Unfortunately, Begley also reported that Anthony has yet to meet with the Knicks during the summer of 2017.

Anthony continued:

Those comments create more confusion than clarity, but it’s still refreshing to read something directly from Anthony’s mouth.

Anthony has spent the past seven seasons with the Knicks. New York made the playoffs in each of the first three revitalizing campaigns, but has since failed to reach the postseason in each of the past four years.

That four-year drought has soured some on Anthony, but it goes deeper than the Knicks simply failing to reach the playoffs.

Primarily during the 2016-17 NBA regular season, what’s transpired off the court has been as much of a story as what’s occurred on it.

Rather than allowing the past to bring him down, however, Anthony has made his peace with the current circumstances. His refusal to comment further seemed to be due more to wanting to focus on the event he attended than wanting to avoid questions about his future.

The question remains, however: What exactly will the future of Anthony’s career with the Knicks entail?
