New York Knicks: Five realistic Carmelo Anthony trade proposals
The New York Knicks are reportedly weighing their options on the Carmelo Anthony trade front. What realistic trades could be made?
With the NBA Draft in the record books and free agency essentially completed, the New York Knicks have returned their attention to Carmelo Anthony. The 10-time All-Star has been on the trading block for months on end, and general manager Scott Perry is making it a top priority to make a final decision.
As the Knicks attempt to negotiate a trade with both rival executives and Anthony himself, one question continues to surface: What exactly would a realistic trade look like?
If fans are expecting New York to get the same type of haul for Anthony as it gave up in 2011, they’re going to be disappointed. He may still be an All-Star, but at 33 years of age, the working theory is that his window isn’t quite as wide open as it was six seasons ago.
If fans are able to accept that harsh reality, however, then encouraging news could come of it, as the Knicks still have an opportunity to improve the future of the organization.
Due to the fact that Anthony has a no-trade clause, the options are admittedly limited here. Thus, this list consists of some less than ideal trade packages that are being milked for every last ounce of their value—as well as others that could have underrated long-term potential.
The question is: What would a realistic trade proposal look like? What can the New York Knicks still get for Carmelo Anthony?
