New York Knicks: Five reasons to love the Ramon Sessions signing
5. Significant NBA Experience
The New York Knicks have a core of four 25 and under players who can be fairly labeled as franchise cornerstones. Frank Ntilikina and Tim Hardaway Jr. possess intriguing two-way potential in the backcourt, and Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez have star potential down low.
With that core already in place, the best thing that Scott Perry and the New York Knicks could do during the offseason was find respected veterans—something it succeeded in doing here.
Sessions has 10 seasons of NBA experience, which has inevitably given him unique perspective on what it takes to succeed in the NBA. He’s appeared in 663 career regular season games, making 142 career starts.
Over the course of those 663 games, Sessions has averaged 23.7 minutes played—a sign that he’s been playing significant roles throughout his career.
Furthermore, Sessions has made the playoffs in two separate seasons. The Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards both won series with him on the roster, and the Knicks may look to do something similar in 2017-18.
Regardless of what the win total looks like, Sessions will bring perspective and experience to a generally young Knicks locker room.
