1. The Closer

The New York Knicks have a pair of alluring young big men in power forward Kristaps Porzingis and center Willy Hernangomez. Both players have displayed the ability to score in isolation, as well as the versatility to work without the ball.

Porzingis has a desperate desire to receive the opportunity to close out games, but having a closer of Kyrie Irving’s caliber would be undeniably beneficial.

Regardless of how you may feel about Irving in the regular season, there’s no way around the fact that he’s ready for the biggest of moments. He closed out the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, and is consistently stellar in the other postseason rounds.

When an important game is on the line, there simply aren’t many players who deserve to be trusted more than Irving.

With Irving and Porzingis embracing the gravity of clutch situations, the Knicks can confidently run their offense during the final three minutes of a game. Both players are fearless, and both are willing to take the biggest of shots.

If the Knicks are going to one day realize their championship aspirations, then a closer of Irving’s caliber will be vital to the team’s success.
