Knicks Trade Rumors: Five reasons to go all-in on trading for Kyrie Irving
2. The Irving-Porzingis Dynamic
The New York Knicks have one of the most dynamic talents in NBA history in 7’3″ power forward Kristaps Porzingis. Nicknamed, “The Unicorn,” Porzingis has a unique combination of tools on offense and elite potential on defense.
By adding Kyrie Irving to the starting lineup, the Knicks would have one of the most offensively versatile duos in the NBA today.
Irving’s scoring ability has been addressed, and can be summarized by the broad statement that he can do a whole lot of everything. Porzingis is comparable in that regard, as the 7’3″ big man has an uncanny array of skills.
Together, it stands to reason that Irving and Porzingis can anchor an offensive system that’s run with both precision and glorious success.
In 2015-16, Porzingis became the first rookie in NBA history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 blocks, and 75 3-point field goals made. In 2016-17, he became the first player in franchise history to record at least 100 blocks and 100 3-point field goals made.
With Porzingis’ tremendous versatility and Irving’s proven scoring ability, the Knicks would have the low-high balance that championship teams have long been built upon.
