The New York Knicks are reportedly high on George Hill and Jeff Teague. A better target may be fellow free agent point guard Patty Mills.
The New York Knicks will enter the 2017 period of free agency with a need for improve play at all three perimeter positions. The question around New York is whether or not improvements can be found in an organic manner.
As rumors surface of the Knicks’ interest in free agent point guards George Hill and Jeff Teague, however, it’s only rational to evaluate the rest of the pack.
One of the names that isn’t getting quite enough run is San Antonio Spurs point guard Patty Mills. Mills will be an unrestricted free agent, and it stands to reason that he could look for an opportunity to start outside of San Antonio.
If that proves to be the case, then New York could emerge as the ideal landing spot for the former Saint Mary’s Gaels point guard.
Mills is coming off of a three-year contract that paid him $13 million. He’ll now be looking for a deal that could pay him somewhere in the range of $13 million per season, which has made him an ideal free agent target.
The question is: Would the pros outweigh the cons if the New York Knicks were to pursue Patty Mills as the next starting point guard in free agency?
