Westchester Knicks: Top 10 plays of 2016-17 season
6. A Nifty Pass From Kevin Capers
After playing limited minutes (9.3 minutes per game) during his rookie season, Kevin Capers returned for a second season with the hopes of taking strides in his game. And that’s exactly what he did. Capers was able to get more of an opportunity at displaying his skills, along with developing his passing ability.
Dating back to his time at Florida Southern, Kevin Capers wasn’t known as a point guard. He mainly played off ball and was relied on to be a scorer in college. During his rookie season, he showed that he could score the ball. He totaled 24 points early on in the 2015-16 season and finished the season by recording 24 points against the Maine Red Claws. With his shooting ability, Capers made a clutch jumper against the Delaware 87ers at the beginning of the season.
Throughout the season, Capers showed that he could run the team’s offense and dished out six or more assists on multiple occasions. Along with that, the Florida Southern product recorded his first double-double of his career during his sophomore season.
Despite finishing with one assist in the team’s 101-91 win over the Erie BayHawks, his assist was a nifty one. Capers fired a bullet pass inside to John Jenkins for two of his 13 points.
