The San Antonio Spurs are as great as any organization in NBA history at developing talent and tapping into their full potential. That makes the selection of Bam Adebayo one that could transform the entirety of the organization.

Adebayo has been compared to Dwight Howard from a pure upside comparison, and San Antonio would be the best organization to help him realize that upside.

Adebayo stands at 6’10” and a chiseled 243 pounds with a near 7’3″ wingspan and an incredible 38.5″ max vertical leap. He’s not only one of the most explosive athletes in this draft class, but one of the most physically overwhelming.

Adebayo will need polish in the post, but he has the physical attributes to be a force of nature with his back to the basket, as well as an elite pick and roll finisher.

Defensively, Adebayo’s size, strength, and leaping ability should enable him to be a dominant rebounder and shot-blocker. He may not have realized that potential in college, but it undoubtedly exists for a coaching staff to extract.

For the Spurs, building a defense around Kawhi Leonard and a player with Dwight Howard potential should be of tremendous appeal.
