The Portland Trail Blazers have a desperate need for depth at the point guard position. The Trail Blazers are flush with depth at virtually every other position, but the absence of a respectable backup point guard has been a crippling flaw.

If Portland is going to hold on to all three of its first-round draft picks, then a top priority should be finding support for Damian Lillard.

Jawun Evans has the potential to not only back Lillard up, but play important minutes for Portland in a postseason setting. He stands at just under 6’0″ tall, but has a near 6’6″ wingspan that should help him defend point guards at the next level.

The physical tools are far from irrelevant, but the foundation for Evans’ draft stock is based more in his offensive versatility and capabilities.

Evans has tremendous court vision, which resulted in his averages of 6.4 assists per game and 8.7 assists per 40 minutes. He also maintained a respectable assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.27, which further displays his ability to do what no one else on Portland consistently does: facilitate.

Evans could be a realistic trade target for the New York Knicks, but it would behoove Portland to select either he or Derrick White at the 2017 NBA Draft.
