The Denver Nuggets have a superstar on the rise in the incomparably versatile Nikola Jokic. Jokic can play both interior positions in the modern NBA, but it’s worth gambling on the possibility of him playing power forward on a full-time basis.
If Denver believes that Jokic can play power forward, then Latvian center Anzejs Pasecniks would be the perfect addition at No. 13 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Pasecniks’ best upside comparison is a player whom New York Knicks fans are quite fond of: Kristaps Porzingis. He’s not only teammates with Porzingis on the Latvian national team, but is similar in the way he plays the game.
Standing at 7’2″, Pasecniks is a fluid athlete with a fearsome jump shot, a presence on the offensive boards, and elite potential on the defensive end of the floor.
By drafting Pasecniks at No. 13, the Nuggets could build the interior of the future with two overwhelming individual talents. Jokic is bordering on being elite after just two seasons, and Pasecniks has the size to play in the post and the range to drag defenders out to the perimeter.
Some may consider this to be a reach at No. 13 overall, but the Nuggets can develop one of the most promising young cores in the NBA with Jokic and Pasecniks.
