Jawun Evans is one of the two players on this list with genuine All-Star potential. There are others who may live up to that hype, but Evans is a projected first-round draft pick with a well-rounded offensive game and intriguing defensive potential.

Projected to come off the board in the 20-to-25 range of the 2017 NBA Draft, the Knicks could potentially make the move to acquire Evans with the following trade scenario:

The reasoning behind such a trade is explained in this article.

Whether it’s pick No. 20 or pick No. 26, the Knicks could have an opportunity to select Evans. If that transpires, then Phil Jackson would be adding a point guard with the length to defend his position at a high level and the offensive skill set to create for those around him.

New York needs a point guard who can generate their own offense and keep the ball in motion, and Evans could excel in both regards.

A pick and roll specialist with tight handles, a smooth midrange game, and above-average finishing ability, Evans could be a steal.

Evans ranked No. 9 in the country with an average of 6.4 assists per game, and amassed an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.23. He also averaged 2.4 steals per 40 minutes in 2016-17, boasts a near 6’6″ wingspan, and has an improving 3-point shot.

If the Knicks managed to make a deal for Maurice Harkless and Evans, one trade could net the organization two full-time starters.
