Nigel Williams-Goss, Gonzaga Bulldogs

Projection: Late Second Round
Upside Comparison:
Age: 22 (9/16/1994)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’3″, 190 pounds, 6’7.25″
2016-17 Slash Line: .486/.368/.867
2016-17 Season Averages: 32.7 MPG, 16.8 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.1 3PM

The New York Knicks are reportedly intrigued by Gonzaga Bulldogs point guard Nigel Williams-Goss. This is in lieu of the 6’3″ point guard helping Gonzaga make its first ever National Championship Game appearance.

Williams-Goss projects to be available at either No. 44 or No. 58 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, and he’ll garner serious consideration at the stage.

The player to whom Williams-Goss best compares is 2009 All-Star Devin Harris. They’re of almost identical builds in height, weight, and wingspan, and have similar skill sets in the sense that both excel at driving the lane and finishing around the rim.

Williams-Goss is also a quality distributor who can operate through the pick and roll, and a respectable enough 3-point shooter.

Defensively, Williams-Goss has the potential to become early what Harris developed into late in his career: a quality defender. Not only can Williams-Goss make plays in the passing lanes, but he has the tools to contain even the best of slashers.

If the Knicks manage to select Williams-Goss, head coach Jeff Hornacek can build a stronger rotation with a legitimate two-way player.

The New York Knicks may still be inclined to select a point guard at No. 8 overall, but there are options further down the board in the 2017 NBA Draft.
