New York Knicks: Non-lottery point guards to consider in 2017 NBA Draft
Most feel the New York Knicks should select a point guard at No. 8 in the 2017 NBA Draft, but how viable are the options further down the board?
When the New York Knicks come on the clock at No. 8 overall, the general consensus is that team president Phil Jackson will find his franchise point guard. New York projects to have other appealing options at No. 8, however, and that beckons an imperative question.
If the Knicks opt against drafting a point guard at No. 8 overall, there will still be attractive options further down the board.
It’s worth noting that New York is actively exploring options on the trade front. It’s held exploratory discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers, which own the No. 15, No. 20, and No. 26 overall selections in the 2017 NBA Draft.
New York also has a pair of second-round selections at No. 44 and No. 58 overall, and could utilize one of those two picks on a sleeper prospect at point guard.
There’s no denying that lottery picks have high ceilings and immediate value. The NBA is littered with stars who weren’t lottery picks, however, including 2017 All-NBA honorees Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, DeAndre Jordan, and Kawhi Leonard.
The question is: Which non-lottery point guards should the New York Knicks give serious consideration to selecting at the 2017 NBA Draft?
