New York Knicks: Teams that may be open to trading 2017 NBA Draft pick
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have an abundance of talent on the roster and no true identity. With Nikola Jokic rapidly developing into a star-caliber player, it’s time for Denver to explore the possibility of building its future in a significantly stronger manner.
The Nuggets may not be willing to move the No. 13 overall selection without fair compensation, but the New York Knicks could offer it.
Assuming the Portland Trail Blazers trade works out, the Knicks could offer Kyle O’Quinn and the No. 20 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. O’Quinn is a physical interior presence and elite rebounder who can redirect shots, as well as a skilled passer.
With Jokic and O’Quinn, the Nuggets could create the the ideal interior balance while simultaneously being cap savvy and still having a first-round draft pick.
For New York, netting the No. 13 pick would enable Phil Jackson to land a second full-time starter. By acquiring Jameer Nelson, the Knicks could have a veteran presence for the locker room and an affordable backup to the starter drafted at either No. 8 or No. 13.
If the Knicks manage to execute the trades with Portland and Denver, they could secure the future and the present in just one day.
