Physical Profile

If you watched the New York Knicks in 2016-17, then you likely saw a team that desperately needed an infusion of athleticism. Even when it was playing well, teams would beat the Knicks to long rebounds, exploit them in transition, and limit slashing opportunities.

By adding Jaron Blossomgame, the Knicks would introduce an explosive athlete to the mix who could essentially be Derrick Williams with stronger fundamental value.

Blossomgame stands at just under 6’7″ with a muscular 219-pound frame, a 6’10” wingspan, and a near 8’9″ standing reach. He recorded a 41.0″ max vertical leap at the 2016 NBA Draft Combine, and while it dropped to 35.5″ in 2017, that’s nothing to frown about.

The game film displays how explosive Blossomgame truly is, and that matters far more than what he can do in a gym for a drill.

On the offensive end of the floor, Blossomgame’s leaping ability, strong hands, and long arms enable him to be a target in the pick and roll, and in transition. Defensively, he has the physical tools to pick up players at multiple positions.

Execution is another question entirely, but the Knicks need a perimeter player with the type of physical gifts Blossomgame possesses.
