5. Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox, Kentucky Wildcats

Ultimate Upside Comparison: John Wall
Safe Upside Comparison: Jeff Teague
Position: Point Guard
Age: 19 (12/20/1997)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’3.25″, 170 pounds, 6’6.5″
2016-17 Slash Line: .479/.246/.736
2016-17 Season Averages: 29.6 MPG, 16.7 PPG, 4.6 APG, 4.0 RPG, 1.5 SPG

The Sacramento Kings desperately need a point guard, and De’Aaron Fox may be the best player in the 2017 NBA Draft. That will be proven over time, but Fox could be the player who helps elevate the Kings to postseason status in the somewhat near future.

The likelihood of Fox falling to No. 5 seems to be dwindling, but Sacramento has to take advantage of this opportunity if it arises.

In a perfect world, Fox will justify the incessant comparisons to Washington Wizards point guard John Wall. He’s an elite athlete who can push the pace in transition, facilitate the offense, and drive the lane at virtual will as a scorer.

Fox is also a player who prides himself on defense, which rounds out the reasons for a team to invest a Top 5 draft pick in him.

A less ambitious upside comparison for Fox would be Jeff Teague, who possesses a similar skill set. Teague is quick coming off of screens, fearless on the drive, and a quality facilitator overall, albeit without same size that Fox possesses.

The New York Knicks would jump at the opportunity to draft Fox, but it’s unlikely that he’ll slide out of the Top 5 come the 2017 NBA Draft.
