3-Point Shooting

No matter what else is said about him, the foundation for Damyean Dotson’s draft stock is his 3-point shooting. With no hyperbole whatsoever infused in this statement, Dotson is one of the most lethal shooters in this draft class.

Assuming he’s willing to put the work in at the next level—and thats an admittedly dangerous assumption to make for any player—Dotson could be special.

Dotson finished the 2016-17 season with 108 3-point field goals made, which ranked No. 14 among Division I players. He did so on 44.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc, which is a testament to just how effective he is.

Dotson’s Top 10 ranking in the shuttle run displayed his ability to create separation when working without the ball, and his game film showed an ability to pull up and shoot.

For the Knicks, an elite 3-point shooter could be exactly what the team needs in future seasons. New York ranked No. 21 in 3-point field goal percentage and No. 24 in 3-point field goals made in 2016-17, and it may lose one of its best shooters to free agency: Justin Holiday.

If the Knicks were to draft Dotson, head coach Jeff Hornacek would be getting the type of marksman his offense currently needs.
