In Daily Knicks’ most recent mock draft, the New York Knicks selected Florida State Seminoles star Jonathan Isaac at No. 8 overall. Remaining consistent with that projection, Isaac is the player picked at No. 8 in this Knicks-centric mock.

The Knicks may be regarded as a team in need of a point guard, but the rumor that Ricky Rubio is on the trade radar further enables Isaac to be the top target.

By drafting Isaac, the Knicks would construct a starting frontcourt with three skilled players standing at 6’11” or taller. That’s an appealing proposition when one considers that all three players are capable passers and willing defenders.

With Isaac, Kristaps Porzingis, and Willy Hernangomez, the Knicks would be able to physically overwhelm opponents on a nightly basis.

Individually, Isaac has an advanced understanding of how to get his shot off in isolation. He’s already splitting double teams, Euro stepping into the paint, stepping back when the interior collapses, and moving well without the ball.

Isaac is in dire need of polish on offense, but he’s as promising a talent as the Knicks are going to find in the 2017 NBA Draft.
