4. Defensive Ceiling

At this point in time, calling Frank Jackson a consistent defender would be inaccurate, if not irresponsible. His footwork is flawed and his commitment to the defensive end of the floor has been relatively inconsistent.

Perimeter defense is often a matter of effort, however, and Jackson has a coachable personality that helps permit intriguing defensive potential.

With a near 6’8″ wingspan and a respectable 8’2″ standing reach, Jackson can keep opponents in front of him. He can also contest shots with his size and length, which is a combination of traits that one can’t help but be intrigued by.

If New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek can help Jackson find his identity on defense, he could become a valuable commodity on that end of the floor.

In addition to his size and length, Jackson has solid lateral quickness that should enable him to excel at the next level. With the ability to shuffle his feet, extend his long arms, and contain players at an effective level, he could fill a significant void.

The Knicks need a point guard who can defend with some measure of consistency, and Jackson could potentially fit the bill with the proper coaching.
