Shaun Livingston, UFA

Position: Point Guard
Age: 31 (9/11/1985)
Experience: 12th Season
2016-17 Slash Line: .547/.333/.700
2016-17 Season Averages: 17.7 MPG, 5.1 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 1.8 APG

Shaun Livingston is tailor made for an offensive system that places an emphasis on being able to convert from midrange. His lackluster 3-point shooting could hurt him, much as it did Derrick Rose, but Livingston has the tools to excel in the triangle offense.

The New York Knicks need a point guard who can execute on both ends of the floor, and Livingston is capable of providing consistent two-way contributions.

Livingston is a 6’7″ point guard with a 6’11” wingspan and above-average defensive capabilities. He ranked No. 21 amongst point guards in Defensive RPM in 2016-17, and has the physical ability to lock a player down for brief stretches of a game.

Although Livingston may not rack up steals on a consistent basis, his size and length can be utilized as disruptive forces in the right defensive scheme.

Offensively, Livingston has shot 46.9 percent from midrange over the course of the past two seasons. He’s made a living in that area of the floor, and while he may not be a true facilitator, he keeps the ball in motion and plays well without the ball for a player who lacks a 3-point shot.

Livingston’s numbers may never jump off the page, but he’s a team player who can help create a healthier culture in the locker room.
