4. Phoenix Suns: De’Aaron Fox, Kentucky Wildcats

Position: Point Guard
Age: 19 (12/20/1997)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’3.25″, 170 pounds, 6’6.5″
2016-17 Slash Line: .479/.246/.736
2016-17 Season Averages: 29.6 MPG, 16.7 PPG, 4.6 APG, 4.0 RPG, 1.5 SPG

The two options for the Phoenix Suns at No. 4 overall are small forward Josh Jackson and point guard De’Aaron Fox. Both are special athletes and projected Top 5 locks, and both display a rare commitment to defending at a high level.

With the Suns in desperate need of a point guard who fits the team’s timeline, it’s Fox who joins Devin Booker in Phoenix.

Booker is becoming one of the best young scorers in the NBA, but he’s a below-average defensive player. By drafting Fox, the Suns would complement Booker with a point guard who prides himself on defending at a high level.

Although this may seem unnecessary with Bledsoe on the roster, the Suns could draft Fox and deal the veteran and his team-friendly contract for a valuable return.

Jackson may be the better prospect, but Fox is closing the gap and better fits what Phoenix needs. Bledsoe  is more than serviceable at the point guard position, but he’s entering his prime while Phoenix’s other key players are just entering the NBA.

This is a tough outcome for the New York Knicks, which covet Fox, but this is the move that needs to be made if Phoenix is going to build a sustainable future.
