27. Brooklyn Nets: Semi Ojeleye, SMU Mustangs

Position: Small Forward

Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’6.75″, 241 pounds, 6’9.75″
2016-17 Slash Line: .487/.424/.785

The Brooklyn Nets have two first-round draft picks, which is a win when one considers how far the previous regime set the organization back. Having drafted a promising young power forward in Ivan Rabb at No. 23, the Nets address the other forward position at No. 27.

Brooklyn needs to invest in promising talent and there may not be a better fit available at No. 27 than SMU Mustangs small forward Semi Ojeleye.

Ojeleye is a 6’7″ small forward with a 6’10” wingspan, a muscular 241-pound frame, and a 40.5″ max vertical leap. In addition to being an explosive athlete with a powerful frame, Ojeleye is a knockdown 3-point shooter with intriguing offensive versatility.

There aren’t many perimeter players who combine power with shooting, and the fact that Ojeleye can is why Brooklyn should take a chance on him.

With Ojeleye and Rabb added to the equation, Brooklyn can continue to build for the future with two players who display intriguing versatility. While Rabb is more of an interior-based player with the mobility to run the floor, Ojeleye does just about everything on offense, including post up.

Brooklyn could make a more ambitious selection here, but the Ojeleye pick is one that could pay off at quite a high level.

If not, the New York Knicks should pounce with a trade up.
