17. Milwaukee Bucks: Jarrett Allen, Texas Longhorns

Position: Center
Age: 19 (4/21/1998)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’10.25″, 234 pounds, 7’5.25″
2016-17 Slash Line: .566/.000/.564
2016-17 Season Averages: 32.1 MPG, 13.4 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 3.0 ORPG, 1.5 BPG

The Milwaukee Bucks have a borderline superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo and a high-level shooting guard in Khris Middleton. It also has an alluring power forward in Jabari Parker who, when healthy, has proven to be one of the better scorers at his position.

Even with a healthy Parker, however, the Bucks need a player who can crash the boards and protect the rim, and that’s where Jarrett Allen comes into play.

Milwaukee has shown no fear when it comes to gambling on upside players, as evidenced by Antetokounmpo and Thon Maker being on the roster. Both players have elite defensive potential, but Milwaukee needs to fortify the interior with a rim protecting center.

Allen isn’t yet a dominant rebounder or shot-blocker, but at 6’10” with a 7’5″ wingspan, he has the potential to develop into that type of specialist.

One area in which Allen is already elite is crashing the offensive boards, which was an area of weakness for Milwaukee in 2016-17. It ranked No. 25 in offensive rebounding and No. 26 in second chance points.

Allen has the length Milwaukee covets, as well as the skill—offensive rebounding—that it perilously needs. He may not fit the New York Knicks, but Allen has special upside.
