Damyean Dotson is one of the most criminally underrated prospects in the 2017 NBA Draft. He has the physical profile and skill level to become a quality contributor at the next level. Even if that doesn’t pan out, it’s worth exploring.

The New York Knicks need 3-and-D players who can help fortify the effort on both ends of the floor, and Dotson has the potential to be that type of contributor.

A muscular shooting guard with a prototypical build, Dotson has the physical tools to be quality defensive player. He also possesses tremendous end-to-end speed, which elevates his value as a transition scoring option.

Appealing as the other aspects of his player profile may be, it’s the 3-point shot that makes Dotson a prospect worth considering in Round 2.

Dotson ranked No. 14 in the country with 104 3-point field goals made in 2016-17, and he shot a blistering 44.3 percent from beyond the arc. He moves well without the ball and is comfortable with creating his own shot in the halfcourt.

If the Knicks accept how desperately they need to improve their 3-point shooting, then Dotson would be a wise addition at No. 58.
