Alternative Options

If the New York Knicks don’t have an opportunity to draft Malik Monk, then the best options will be both at and away from the point guard position. That list features small forward Jonathan Isaac and point guards Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith.

All three players offer reason for intrigue, and all three players could be ideal alternatives to Monk if that transpires.

Ntilikina is a point guard with size and playmaking proficiency, while Smith is an explosive athlete who can create at will. Smith is an elite dribble penetrator, while Ntilikina is more of a perimeter-based player who specializes in creating.

Ntilikina is pegged as a prospect who perfectly fits the triangle offense, while Smith can fill the Derrick Rose role with the added benefit of shooting and facilitating.

As for Isaac, he’s a 6’11” small forward with elite defensive potential and an advanced understanding of offensive execution. He’ll need to develop his skill set, but the tools are in place for limitless success.

If the Knicks either can’t or opt against drafting Monk, then either Isaac, Ntilikina, or Smith would be ideal targets.
