3. Westchester Knicks Set New Attendance Record On School Day

In one of the best promotions of the season, the Westchester Knicks hosted School Day. With an 11 a.m. start, schools filled the Westchester County Center as the Dub Knicks welcomed the Santa Cruz Warriors into town. The fans were hoping the Knicks were going to come out with a win and that’s exactly what happened.

The Dub Knicks set a new attendance record on School Day, as 3,341 fans packed the Westchester County Center.

Not only did Westchester pick up their fifth win in a row and improve to 5-1, the Knicks had one of their best games of the season. The Knicks did a good job at containing Santa Cruz, but had trouble stopping Elgin Cook and Phil Pressey. The Warriors totaled 98 points with 60 of them coming from Cook (33) and Pressey (27).

On the home side, the team had a well-balanced attack on the Warriors. Four players scored in double figures (Chasson Randle, Doron Lamb, Damien Inglis and Rashad Vaughn). Randle had a team-high 24 points on an efficient 10-of-19 from the field. Inglis posted his second double-double of the season (at the time) and finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks.

On assignment from the Milwaukee Bucks, Vaughn added 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench.

Not only did the game come down to the final seconds, but it featured two of the top-10 plays of the season. With the Knicks down by one with 37 seconds left, Damien Inglis got into the lane and finished at the rim and gave Westchester the lead.

Following Inglis’ bucket, Santa Cruz had an opportunity to win the game. With 18 seconds left, Phil Pressey tried to drive to the basket. Ultimately, Pressey met Keith Wright at the rim who delivered the block of the season.

With the block by Wright, the Westchester Knicks walked away with the victory. After a 99-98 win over the Santa Cruz Warriors, Chasson Randle praised the huge plays the team made and the energy the crowd brought.

After the game, Jordon Crawford thanked the schools that showed up at the Westchester County Center and supporter the team.
