2017 NBA Mock Draft: New York Knicks And All 30 First-Round Picks
By Yazen Abed
29. San Antonio Spurs – Isaiah Hartenstein (Germany)
Can we really go a single draft without assuming that the San Antonio Spurs will at least entertain the idea of selecting an international prospect who will be stashed away until they’re ready to be unleashed?
Despite getting trounced by the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals (sans Kahwi Leonard), the Spurs have a core that’s ready to compete now. Hartenstein has been soaring up draft boards due to his body and inside/outside game that is tantalizing.
If the Spurs do one thing right, it’s nailing their late first-round picks, especially draft-and-stash Euros. Expect no less from the Spurs this year.
30. Utah Jazz – Jonathan Jeanne (France)
A 7’2″ lanky Frenchman with a 7’6.5″ wingspan, Jonathan Jeanne could thrive with the Utah Jazz. It seems to have worked out the first time around with Rudy Gobert. Now the Jazz get his fellow countryman to back him up in Jeanne.
They could very well swing for him with their first pick at No. 24, but if he slides down to them at 30, they would be champing at the bit to nab him. He’ll need time to mature like Gobert, but learning from the “Stifle Tower” is a crash course in big man 101.
