If you’ve been watching the 2017 NBA Playoffs, then you’ve been watching Mr. Irrelevant lead the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals. Isaiah Thomas was drafted at No. 60 overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, and has since become a two-time All-Star.

The New York Knicks may not get a franchise player at No. 58, but there’s an intriguing list of prospects to choose from.

In this mock draft, the Knicks target one of the best shooters in the country: shooting guard Damyean Dotson. Dotson is an under-the-radar player, but he’s a genuine marksman who can step in and help space the floor for Jeff Hornacek.

In 2016-17, Dotson converted 108 3-point field goals on 44.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc—giving him 170 made over the past two seasons.

By drafting Dotson, the Knicks would be giving Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez a lights-out floor-spacer. Standing at a chiseled 6’5″ and 205 pounds with a respectable 6’9″ wingspan, Dotson also has the tools to be a quality defender.

If Dotson is drafted to be an off-ball scoring threat who defends at a solid level, then the Knicks could make a wise investment here.
