The results are in from the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery. Who should the New York Knicks be considering as options for June’s momentous occasion?

The event that every New York Knicks fan has been uncomfortably anticipating has finally passed. On Tuesday, May 16, the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery was held and the order in which the first 14 picks will be selected was revealed.

The impatience came to an end when it was announced that the Knicks will be selecting at No. 8 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.

New York entered the event with the seventh-best lottery odds in the NBA, but fell to No. 8.

Phil Jackson and the Knicks will enter June 22 with the eighth, 45th, and 58th overall selections in the 2017 NBA Draft. It will be New York’s second lottery pick since 2009—an odd reality given the fact it’s missed the playoffs in five of the past eight seasons.

With its most recent lottery pick, New York drafted power forward Kristaps Porzingis, who has since become a franchise cornerstone.

The Knicks will now have three opportunities in one draft cycle to surround Porzingis and fellow draft-night acquisition Willy Hernangonez with promising young talent. The question, of course, is which players the team should be targeting.

In the first post-lottery mock draft, Daily Knicks takes a look at whom the New York Knicks should be targeting—and who the other options may be.
