Pro: Playmaking Ability

One of the most underrated aspects of J.J. Redick’s game is his ability to create with the ball in his hands. He’s not necessarily an elite dribble penetrator, but he does an outstanding job of coming off of screens and making wise decisions.

Redick’s ability to rise up into jump shots is well-documented, but he’s also lethal in turning the corner and driving the lane.

Redick isn’t exactly Derrick Rose as a finisher, but he’s skilled and capable of making plays. He can get down to the free throw line and either rise up for a midrange jump shot or kick the ball out to an open shooter along the perimeter.

Redick isn’t an elite facilitator by any stretch of the imagination, but like Courtney Lee, he’s more than capable of creating for others.

By adding Redick to the fold, the Knicks would have a pair of shooting guards who can assist their teammates in a pinch. New York would still need a point guard who can facilitate, but having Redick and Lee would provide an ideal offensive balance.

Willing passers are tougher to come by than one might like to admit, but the Knicks would have two ideal shooting guards in that regard with Lee and Redick.
