Knicks Trade Rumors: Five Reasons To Trade For Jae Crowder
The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in trading Carmelo Anthony for a package deal centered around Jae Crowder. Should Phil Jackson make the move?
One of the less polarizing developments of the 2016-17 NBA regular season was the revelation of Phil Jackson’s most regretted missed opportunity. The New York Knicks team president claimed that he could have traded for Jae Crowder, but opted against doing so.
Fast forward eight months and it’s being reported Jackson is interesting in making up for lost time by trading for Crowder in 2017.
The Jae Crowder talk was birthed by Jackson publicly advising Carmelo Anthony to accept a trade out of New York. Jackson stated that he wouldn’t dump ‘Melo, but the comments clearly outlined his plans to move on from the 10-time All-Star.
According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, the Boston Celtics could be interested in trading for Anthony and the Knicks could ask for Jae Crowder in return.
"The Post has learned that in talks with the Celtics, their defensive small forward Jae Crowder would be a major player of interest for Knicks president Phil Jackson."
Crowder may not be a star of the same stature as Anthony, but he’s a player whom the Knicks could receive intriguing value from.
As the Anthony saga takes a turn for the worst, the Knicks are reportedly doubling down on their interest in another small forward. It’s a polarizing proposition, but it’s one that could yield intriguing results in the short and long-term.
The question is: what would the appeal be of the New York Knicks trading Carmelo Anthony for a package centered around Jae Crowder?
