New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson was asked about his public feud with Carmelo Anthony. He denied criticizing the 10-time All-Star.

The New York Knicks are preparing for an offseason of change and potential turmoil. Team president Phil Jackson has made it known that he will attempt to trade star small forward Carmelo Anthony and encouraged him to accept the move.

Per Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Jackson outright stated that the Knicks would like a significant player in return for Anthony.

The obvious question is: if Jackson were to trade Anthony, then who would be the best player or package of players to target?

It’s nice to see that Jackson isn’t looking to trade Anthony for pennies on the dollar. It’s vital to note, however, that Anthony is soon to turn 33 years of age and is entering the final guaranteed season on his contract.

Thus, while Anthony may be able to elevate a contender to championship-level status, teams may not be willing to risk a fortune to execute a trade for a player entering their mid-30s.

With a number of teams hoping to make a jump to either postseason or contending status, there will be options. Anthony is a respected individual and a lethal scorer who can play any number of roles from a scoring perspective.

Although none are guaranteed to be available, if the New York Knicks are looking to trade Carmelo Anthony, then these players could serve as strong returns.
