As the New York Knicks approach their final four games of the season, they will attempt to defeat the playoff-bound Washington Wizards.

Those hoping the New York Knicks would tank what was left of their season were left sorely disappointed. The bench players have taken on minutes in the starting lineup and have performed better than anticipated.

However, the Knicks will face a tough matchup against the Washington Wizards and John Wall on Apr. 6. Here are some matchups to look out for as the Knicks look to defend their home court and secure a second consecutive win.

Ron Baker Covering John Wall

Although Ron Baker performed exceptionally well against the Bulls this past Monday, he has a difficult night ahead of him. John Wall is coming off a monster game. In 35 minutes, he scored 23 points and added 13 assists and six steals against the Charlotte Hornets.

Baker will have to leave little to no breathing room as he takes the court against Wall. If not, the game may turn out of control fast.

Justin Holiday And Courtney Lee On Bradley Beal

Justin Holiday only has four games left to prove he deserves an at least halfway decent contract. He has yet to have a contract reaching over $2.0 million and has played like he needs a payday.

It’s essential the Knicks give Holiday more minutes in these final four games. He only played 21 minutes on Monday when the Knicks blew out the Bulls.

Coming off an impressive game, as well, Courtney Lee has proven to be reliable. It’s been speculated amongst fans that the Knicks should consider using him as trade bait this offseason.

He has surely performed well enough for teams to be interested in stealing him from the Knicks. That is, if anybody is looking for an aging and consistent veteran at shooting guard.

Knicks Big Men Against Marcin Gortat And Markief Morris

The most favorable matchup of the night is at power forward and center. Even with Kristaps Porzingis being questionable, there’s no reason for him to rush back onto the court.

Markieef Morris is posting numbers all just above his career average. Marcin Gortat has also had a solid year, playing well in his ninth season. The Knicks will look to answer with attitude and physicality.

It shouldn’t be a surprise if you see Maurice Ndour make his second consecutive start. If his second game is anything like his first, the Knicks will be in good hands.

Willy Hernangomez and Kyle O’Quinn have been superb sharing minutes at center lately. Hernangomez is also leading all rookies with his 53.8 field goal percentage.

If the New York Knicks find a way to dominate the paint and play a physical game, they stand a chance.

However, Ron Baker will need to play his best game yet to keep John Wall off the highlight reel.
