Carmelo Anthony
Carmelo Anthony returned to the lineup on Apr. 4 and reminded fans of what he’s capable of when he’s focused as a star and leader. He was aggressive as a scorer and vocal as a central figure in what was an encouraging performance.
Anthony may see the writing on the wall, but against Chicago, he displayed the heart and passion that made him a fan favorite in the first place.
Anthony finished the100-91 win over Chicago with team-high marks of 23 points and 37 minutes played. He added seven rebounds, one offensive board, two assists, and two 3-point field goals made in his first game back from a two-game absence.
Although Anthony had more field goal attempts than points, his scoring ability was one of the keys to New York pulling away with an early lead.
Considering Anthony had nine points the last time out, this was a refreshing performance. Not only did he score 23 points, but he was fearless on offense, which is an ideal turn of events after he bordered on reluctance to shoot in previous outings.
The New York Knicks need Anthony at his best, and performances like this were a telling sign of how effective he can still be.
