Offensively, the New York Knicks won’t find many point guards who perform at a higher level than Jeff Teague. He’s not necessarily a star, but he’s a facilitating point guard who scores with an acceptable level of efficiency.
If the Knicks can convince Teague to take a contract that doesn’t necessarily consume the team’s cap space, he could be a strong addition.
Teague is a quality 3-point shooter who has experience playing off-ball in a motion offense. That not only makes him a strong candidate for the triangle offense, but an appropriate player to add to an adaptation run by head coach Jeff Hornacek.
Teague is also an athletic finisher with the speed to be a blur in transition and the quickness to get to the rim and free throw line on a consistent basis.
Thus far in 2016-17, Teague is averaging 5.0 free throw attempts per game. He also has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.88, which is a strong and efficient number that further adds to the intrigue created by his 7.2 assists per game.
On a team with the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Willy Hernangomez, and Kristaps Porzingis, Teague could facilitate at an even higher level.
