Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is a three-time All-Star who should have made a fourth appearance in 2014. He’s also an All-NBA Third Team honoree who was on pace for a second career selection before suffering a wrist injury.

Lowry’s injury, as well as his age, are undeniable factors in the debate surrounding how much money he’s worth, but it’s quite clear that he’d improve the New York Knicks.

Lowry is Chris Paul lite in the sense that he does everything on the court and makes everyone around him better. He puts his teammates in a position to be successful as a facilitator and holds himself accountable on defense.

The Knicks need a point guard who can facilitate the offense, space the floor, and defend at a high level, and Lowry fits the bill.

The hurdle with signing Lowry is that, at 31 years of age, he’s expected to ask for a max contract. He’ll likely re-sign with Toronto if Masai Ujiri is willing to break the bank, but if the Raptors let him walk, the Knicks could swoop in.

Lowry is still in the prime of his career and, if only for two of the four seasons on a potential contract, he would provide borderline elite contributions.
