The New York Knicks dealt a damaging blow to a rival’s postseason aspirations with a 98-94 victory over the Miami Heat. Who stepped up?

The New York Knicks had a unique opportunity to deal structural damage to a bitter rival on Friday, Mar. 31. Though reaching the postseason is no longer a possibility for the Knicks, preventing a rival from doing so remained within the realm of possibility.

In the midst of the Miami Heat’s resurgence and attempted return to the postseason, the Knicks played the part of the temporary spoilers.

Despite playing without Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose, New York took down Miami for a 98-94 road victory. With the two veteran household names sidelined, the Knicks showed a rare commitment to defensive execution.

On the strength of the rising stars and the unsung heroes’ vigorous defensive effort, the Knicks offered fans a glimpse into the future.

With the victory over Miami, New York improved to 29-47 overall and 12-28 during road games. With five of the final six games to be played at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks have created some form of positive momentum.

The question is: who stepped up for the New York Knicks during the 98-94 victory over the rival Miami Heat?
