Oregon Ducks swingman Dillon Brooks is projected as a potential Top 40 selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. The jury is still out on how Brooks would fare in the NBA, but he has an intriguing combination of size, skill, and athleticism.

Brooks is ranked higher than most of the players ranked ahead of him on this list, but his positional ambiguity creates reasonable doubt pertaining to his fit with the New York Knicks.

Brooks has played small forward and power forward in college, which calls his NBA position into question. He can play in an off-ball capacity and work the perimeter, however, and the coaching staff can work on improving his handles.

If the Knicks are looking for an athletic shooter to develop behind Courtney Lee, then Brooks could be the ideal second-round target.

Brooks’ teammate, Tyler Dorsey, also faces questions about his true position, but he’s a guard who fits the triangle offense. For Brooks, it would be a matter of finding a wing position for him to play at 6’7″ with a short wingspan.

There’s reason for skepticism, as well as other options with stronger appeal, but Brooks projects to be a Top 40 selection for a reason. The Knicks should scout him heavily during the Final Four.
