Point Guard

Derrick Rose proved the doubters wrong. He has played the season showing strength and explosiveness that the New York Knicks haven’t had at the point guard position for a long, long time.

His defense and lack of outside shooting, however, leave a lot to be desired. So who else can man that spot and take the helm of the Knickerbockers’ discombobulated offense?

The answer might be Jrue Holiday, who’s the younger brother of current Knick Justin Holiday. They have already expressed a mutual interest to play together. Why not in the Big Apple?

Jrue Holiday provides outside shooting and a pass-first mentality. He’s currently averaging 7.2 assists per game ,which is a major upgrade from Rose’s measly 4.4 assists per game.

Holiday also has a positive Real Plus-Minus on both offense and defense. The Knicks don’t need someone to hold Kyrie Irving and John Wall to five points. They just need someone who doesn’t give them open looks, and Holiday can step up in that department.

The main issue for Holiday is durability. He has shown a knack for getting small, nagging injuries. People had the same concerns with Derrick Rose, but he had one big injury and made a comeback, versus Holiday who keeps getting minor injuries and never really gets into a rhythm.

Signing Holiday would be a gamble only because of health concerns, but the thought of him playing with Kristaps Porzingis and teaching him nuances of the game that Anthony Davis displayed is enough to take a chance.
