This upcoming period of free agency is loaded with superstars, but what about the quality players who can propel the New York Knicks into the playoffs?

The New York Knicks’ super team dreams didn’t exactly pan out. This team was supposed to be better than they ended up being. If you watched the game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, you probably wondered why it took about 70 games to play the way they did.

One of the most common theories is that the Knicks’ 2016 free agency acquisitions didn’t work out well enough for the 2016-17 season to be a success.

Nonetheless, change has to come. That’s where the 2017 period of free agency comes into play: to address the high number of flaws. New York needs defense. New York needs passing. New York needs shooting.

Keep in mind, this list doesn’t include big names like Blake Griffin or Chris Paul. It’s entirely possible that Chris Paul will decide to play with his buddy Carmelo Anthony and help groom Kristaps Porzingis. Landing a superstar is simply a rare occurrence for the Knicks.

So here are the top free agents who can realistically make New York great again.
