South Carolina Gamecocks shooting guard Sindarius Thornwell deservedly won the 2017 SEC Player of the Year award. After three solid seasons, the senior became a legitimate star and solidified his status as an NBA draft prospect.

Thornwell could be an early second or late first-round draft pick, but if he’s available when the New York Knicks pick in Round 2, he should be considered.

During the Round of 64, Thornwell eviscerated the Marquette Golden Eagles with a performance for the ages. He went off for 29 points, 11 rebound, two assists, three steals, and two blocks in 35 phenomenal minutes.

With his team in need of leadership, Thornwell did everything in his power to deliver a victory—and that he did, 93-73.

Thornwell has ideal physical gifts for an NBA shooting guard and a consistent stroke from beyond the arc. He’s a versatile offensive player, but most importantly, he’s a high-quality defender who can excel in on-ball situations.

For a Knicks team in dire need of 3-and-D players along the perimeter, Thornwell could be the perfect fit as a quality reserve and potential starter.
