There’s a widespread belief that Washington Huskies star Markelle Fultz will be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. He has an elite combination of size, skill, and potential that organizations are itching to explore.

Unfortunately, Fultz and the Huskies will be excluded from March Madness after finishing the 2016-17 season at 9-22.

Washington’s putrid season hasn’t been enough to detract from Fultz’s appeal in NBA circles. He produced at a borderline elite level in virtually every category and maintained a tremendous level of efficiency from the field and 3-point range.

Even in the wake of a 9-22 season, Fultz is garnering praise for his leadership ability, primarily due to what he accomplished as a high school player for Team USA.

It the New York Knicks are going to have a shot at drafting Fultz, then they’d need to secure Top 3 lottery odds. If that were to transpire, the Knicks would be basing the decision to draft Fultz on the data they’ve compiled already and pre-draft workouts.

The NCAA Tournament would be an excellent proving ground for Fultz, but he and the Huskies will be watching the event from campus.
