The field has been set for the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the New York Knicks have NBA Draft targets who won’t be a part of March Madness.

The 2017 NBA Draft is being heralded as one of the most explosive in recent history. For the New York Knicks, that creates the possibility of Phil Jackson solidifying the future by putting his three available draft picks to use.

Unfortunately, a number of intriguing targets will no longer be competing in high-level games during the 2016-17 college basketball season.

The field was set for the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Mar. 12. A vast majority of the top prospects in the 2017 NBA Draft will take part in the event, but a healthy crop of Top 60 players will be on the outside looking in.

Though that may be a red flag in some eyes, those players shouldn’t be written off entirely as options for the Knicks in the draft.

New York has its frontcourt secured with Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez, but the perimeter is flush with question marks. Fortunately for the Knicks, there are a number of gifted playmakers who can be found in this draft class.

That includes some who won’t be playing in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The question is: who are they and why should the New York Knicks be interested?
