Kostja Mushidi is a relentless competitor with an NBA body and a desire to play at the highest possible level. The Belgian shooting guard isn’t the best shooter in this draft class, but he has a rare competitive spirit and a fearlessness that’s certain to intrigue general managers.
If the New York Knicks are going to jump back into the international talent pool, then scouting international standouts like Mushidi should be a top priority.
Mushidi has prototypical size for a shooting guard and the athleticism to comfortably play the position in the Association. He plays for a team, Mega Leks, that has been consistently producing NBA players in recent years.
If Mushidi’s work ethic is as strong as it’s reported to be, then he could develop into a high-level reserve or a starting 2.
At this current juncture, Mushidi’s appeal on offense is being able to create in transition and play above the rim. Long-term, he has a motor that few can match and could thus become a relentless slasher who consistently scores in the half court.
Mushidi has more upside than established ability at this current juncture, but the Knicks can afford to take that type of gamble in the second round.
