The first round may host the bigger names, but the New York Knicks can find diamonds in the rough during the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

March Madness has officially arrived and the time for scouts to make their money has arrived with it. Scouts have been evaluating players for months already, but tournament time is the most important stretch of the season for the New York Knicks.

In the midst of an underwhelming NBA regular season, the Knicks can find solace in evaluating the top prospects during the final collegiate games of 2016-17.

In stark contrast to previous seasons, the Knicks will have three draft picks to utilize in 2017. Team president Phil Jackson has condemned the decisions of previous regimes and committed to building through the draft.

Though it’s the first-round selection that Jackson will utilize to search for a future star, the two second-round selections shouldn’t be overlooked.

Second-round draft picks rarely work out, but there have been quite a few diamonds found in the rough. Since 2006 alone, the likes of Goran Dragic, Marc Gasol, Draymond Green, Paul Millsap, and Isaiah Thomas have gone from second-round draft picks to All-Star or All-NBA honorees.

The question is: which players should the New York Knicks be scouting as potential second-rounders turned standouts in the 2017 NBA Draft?
