The Kentucky Wildcats have a surplus of point guards, but no one is under more pressure to perform than Isaiah Briscoe. He’s made intriguing progress since 2016-17, but Briscoe is currently a late second-round draft pick on many analysts’ big boards.
The New York Knicks have two second-round draft picks, however, and Briscoe could be well worth the use of one of those two selections.
Briscoe has been a high-level defender during his time with with the Wildcats. He has tree trunks for legs and a powerful upper body, which enables him to keep players in front of him and effectively guard players who are taller than he.
No issue is bigger for the Knicks than defense, which makes Briscoe the perfect player to target with one of the two second-round selections.
On offense, Briscoe is an outstanding slasher, but his improved shooting has declined in recent weeks. In order to solidify the belief that he’s consciously working to improve, Briscoe must step up during the SEC Tournament.
Briscoe has the talent level to play a significant role in the NBA, but he must prove that his improved shooting is more than just a flash in the pan.
