The New York Knicks suffered a 112-105 loss to the Golden State Warriors, but there were reasons for optimism. What are the positive takeaways?

The New York Knicks have been one of the more underwhelming teams in the NBA during the 2016-17 regular season. Despite yielding high expectations, the Knicks have been the very definition of an underachiever.

On Sunday, Mar. 5, however, the Knicks squared off against the Golden State Warriors and surprisingly held their own.

New York fell 112-105 to Golden State in a nationally-televised clash between two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum. The Warriors entered the game with a league-best record of 50-11, while New York was 25-37.

Though the result may have reflected the two respective teams, it was an evenly-fought game that offered reasons to be impressed by the Knicks.

While the Warriors are pushing for a third consecutive NBA Finals appearance, the Knicks are attempting to salvage the season. Thus, while it remains possible for New York to make the playoffs, it’s more in search of the tiniest of victories.

The question is: what were the positive takeaways from the New York Knicks’ strong showing against the Golden State Warriors?
