It’s no secret that Phil Jackson covets skilled European players. Which international prospects should the New York Knicks scout for the 2017 NBA Draft?

The New York Knicks have embraced the international movement in professional basketball. Four of the players on the current roster played professionally outside of the United States of America, including future franchise player Kristaps Porzingis.

As New York evaluates the top prospects in the 2017 NBA Draft, it stands to reason that the international movement could continue this June.

New York will have three selections in the 2017 NBA Draft. It’s currently in line for Top 10 lottery odds and will have two second-round draft picks; one from the Chicago Bulls and another from the Houston Rockets.

With an opportunity to make a splash in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Knicks will undoubtedly test the international waters to determine whether or not there are ideal options.

New York’s current roster includes Willy Hernangomez of Spain, Mindaugas Kuzminskas of Lithuania, Porzingis of Latvia, and Sasha Vujacic of Slovenia. Hernangomez, Kuzminskas, and Porzingis all gained experience in Spain’s vaunted Liga ACB.

With a deep crop of Liga ACB players and a number of other tantalizing prospects from around the world, the New York Knicks will have a vast array of options.
